About

Manchester's The Slow Show build music that somehow feels both restrained and enormous at once, their sound described as minimalist but epic, draped in atmospheric layers with Rob Goodwin's deep, croaky baritone doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Comparisons to Elbow, The National and Tindersticks give you a rough map of the territory, though the band insists their name has nothing to do with that National song, drummer Chris Hough just loves show stopping acts, and the whole group is firmly committed to not rushing anything. Formed in 2010 when keyboardist Fred Kindt helped launch Manchester's Blueprint studio, the band built a loyal following across Europe, especially in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Their debut album White Water arrived in 2015, with Dream Darling following a year later, and they have kept releasing records since, most recently Subtle Love in 2023. A 2019 session with the Hallé Youth Choir shows they are not shy about going big when the song calls for it.
