The Stone Souls

About

The Stone Souls take listeners on a genre blending trip through desert rock, americana and nostalgic pop, built around slide guitar, mariachi trumpet and cinematic storytelling. Their songs orbit characters on the margins: loners, dreamers and misfits. The band was founded by Theodor Versteegen and has released two albums alongside a string of EPs including Splinter, Riptide and Bones. Those EPs preceded a short film also called Splinter, which picked up the award for Best Original Score at the Berlin Indie Film Festival. Live, they have appeared at venues and events such as Luxor Live, Mañana Mañana and the Zwarte Cross. Their third album, Mushroom, extends the band's sound into Southern Gothic territory, with trumpet player Marijke and violinist Sophie adding texture to what feels like a soundtrack for people who would rather make things than consume them.
