About
Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado have been one of Europe's most consistent blues rock outfits for over two decades, touring more than twenty countries across Europe, the US, Canada and India, playing everything from intimate jazz cellars to major festivals. The Danish eight piece pulls from blues, soul, funk and rock, building a full, rich sound through vocals, guitars, piano, horns and backing singers. Risager's warm, lived in voice sits at the centre of it all. Their album House of Sticks, recorded in Copenhagen and co produced by Risager himself, shows the full range of what the band does: swampy grooves, soulful ballads and driving blues rock that draws comparisons to The Black Keys and JJ Cale. Tracks like "Inner Light", a funk tinged reflection on ageing and optimism, and "Long Time Ago" and "Already Gone" highlight how much stylistic ground the group covers without ever losing its identity.
