Named after a legendary Los Angeles blues club that burned down and was immortalised on a live record by The Red Devils, King King have built one of the most respected reputations in British blues rock. The Glasgow formed group, built around guitarist and vocalist Alan Nimmo, deliver a sound rooted in classic blues but with enough raw energy to fill arenas. That range got put to the test in 2016 when they supported Thunder at Wembley Arena, and they more than held their own. Their run of studio albums through the 2010s kept picking up awards, including multiple wins at the British Blues Awards and the number one spot on the Official Jazz/Blues Chart for 2017's Exile and Grace, mixed by Chris Sheldon of Foo Fighters fame. Their live album King King Live also hit number one on the Amazon Blues Chart and gave them their first entry into the UK Albums Chart. One enduring touch: frontman Alan Nimmo performing in a kilt, a habit that has stuck around since the early days.
