About
Bernard Allison has been carrying the torch for Chicago blues on both sides of the Atlantic for decades, and his guitar work carries real weight. Son of the legendary Luther Allison, he cut his teeth playing in Koko Taylor's touring band straight out of high school, then sharpened his craft alongside Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughan early in his career. He recorded his debut album, The Next Generation, in Paris around 1990, using his father's musicians, and has been based in the French capital ever since. His 2002 album Storms of Life cracked the top five on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart, and he has kept a steady pace of releases ever since. His most recent studio record, Luther's Blues from 2024, is a clear nod to his father's legacy. The catalogue now runs to over a dozen albums spanning raw live recordings, funk tinged blues, and straight up electric fire.
