Davy Knowles plays blues guitar with a rawness that turns heads fast. The Isle of Man born guitarist first made noise with Back Door Slam, whose debut album Roll Away hit number 7 on the Billboard Blues Chart and landed the band slots at Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo. When that band split, Knowles wasted no time going solo, and Coming Up for Air shot to number 2 on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart twice in the same summer. Joe Satriani called him his "new favourite modern day bluesman" after touring together in 2009. His guitar work pulls from Rory Gallagher, Peter Green and Dire Straits, and there's a Celtic thread running through some of it too, a nod to the Isle of Man's closeness to Ireland. Now based in Chicago, he has released three solo albums with the most recent being What Happens Next in 2021, and keeps a steady touring presence across the United States.
