About
Rabbit&Haas is a piano duo made up of Hanke Scheffer and Tamara Laverman, who also works as a composer. For the programme Traces, they perform a cycle for piano four hands and sampler written by composer Wilbert Bulsink. The sampler draws on field recordings he made in 2010 along the edges of Europe, cycling through Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania and Turkey. Those recordings captured voices in various languages, livestock, church bells, engines, cathedral acoustics, radar domes, mountain valleys, choral singing, minaret recitations, karaoke, and weather of all kinds. All of it weaves together with live piano playing. Tamara Laverman contributes her own composition to the same programme, making Traces a genuinely collaborative project between performers and composers rather than a straightforward concert.
