About
Tribulation started out as a Swedish death metal band from Arvika, but over the course of six studio albums they've carved out something far more distinctive. Their 2015 record Children of the Night marked the turning point, swapping the raw death metal of their early releases for a sound that pulls from gothic rock, traditional heavy metal and black metal, all wrapped in occult and supernatural imagery. Decibel summed them up as "blackened goth metallers", which captures the vibe pretty well. From there they kept pushing the sound forward through Down Below, Where the Gloom Becomes Sound, and their 2024 album Sub Rosa In Æternum. Vocalist and bassist Johannes Andersson has been steering the ship since day one alongside guitarist Adam Zaars, giving the band a consistent creative core even as the lineup around them shifted.
