About
Vildhjarta built their reputation on a sound so specific they accidentally invented a word for it. The Swedish progressive metal band from Hudiksvall coined "thall" to describe their own take on djent, and it stuck as both a genre label and an inside joke between the band and their fanbase. Their music runs on heavily down tuned guitars, harmonic minor chord progressions, and dense layers of reverb and atmosphere, all filtered through a Meshuggah influence that guitarist Calle Thomér openly acknowledges alongside Katatonia and The Mars Volta. Their debut album Måsstaden, released in 2011 on Century Media, is a concept record framed like a fable about a hidden, isolated town. A decade later came Måsstaden under vatten, produced, mixed and mastered by drummer Buster Odeholm. In 2025 they released their third full length album Där skogen sjunger under evighetens granar, and with the departure of founding member Daniel Bergström that same year, the lineup now shares no original members with the 2005 founding lineup.
