Named after the Galgenstraat in Amsterdam where they first got together in 2012, Gallowstreet have built a reputation as one of the Netherlands' most energetic brass acts. Their sound throws hip hop, funk and afrobeat into the mix, all delivered through brass, reeds and percussion. Debut album Battleplan landed in 2016 on V2 Records Benelux and earned them a finalist spot for the Edison Jazzism Audience Award. Hot Lava Sex Machine followed in 2018, the same year they sold out Paradiso for their own brass night, HONK!. Their collaboration with string collective Pynarello is a highlight worth knowing about. A special concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam eventually became the live EP Gallowstreet Royale ft. Pynarello, released in 2021. The partnership carried on into 2022 with a Dutch tour and a joint show at Carré. Most recently they put out A Trip Worth Making in 2024.
