About
Vancouver's Anciients play a dense, churning brand of progressive sludge and stoner metal that rewards patient listening. Their 2013 debut Heart of Oak announced them as a serious force, landing a Polaris Music Prize long list nomination and earning them spots opening for Lamb of God on the road. Their second album Voice of the Void took things further, winning the Juno Award for Heavy Metal Album of the Year in 2018. The four piece has kept evolving since then, with lineup changes settling into place over the years. Their third album Beyond the Reach of the Sun earned them a second Juno for Heavy Metal Album of the Year, confirming that Anciients are one of Canada's most consistently compelling acts in heavy music.
