About
Few pop artists have had a debut quite like Annie's. The Norwegian singer and producer released her first single "Greatest Hit" in 1999, a limited run of 500 copies that sold out in two days and became an underground club hit across Norway and the UK. Her debut album Anniemal followed in 2004, pulling together collaborators like Röyksopp and Richard X, and the album's single "Heartbeat" was voted number one on Pitchfork's Top 50 Singles of 2004 before it was even officially released. She describes her own sound as "pop with strange edges", and that feels about right: her music sits somewhere between indie sensibility and the dancefloor, earning her comparisons to Kylie Minogue with a cooler, more leftfield twist. After a second album Don't Stop in 2009, she returned with Dark Hearts in 2020, capping more than a decade away from full length releases.
