About
Singer and saxophonist Bertus Borgers comes from Veldhoven in the Dutch province of Brabant, and his roots run deep in the sounds of the 1960s: rock, soul, jazz and blues. With his band Brabant Funk, he performs largely in Dutch with a distinctly Brabantian accent, weaving in a handful of English language classics from earlier in his career. The group is a family affair, with three relatives sharing the stage alongside him on guitar, cajón and bass. Brabant Funk released the album Live Muziek in de Sjoklade Fabriek, recorded at De Cacaofabriek in Helmond, as a statement in favour of live music. Borgers puts it plainly: real music needs nothing more than air to reach your ears.
