Huub van der Lubbe is best known as the frontman of De Dijk, one of the most enduring Dutch pop acts around. Alongside that career he has kept up a songwriting partnership with pianist Jan Robijns that stretches back to a spring Sunday in 1976, the same afternoon they met. Together the two founded the rock and roll band Big Shot & his Rocking Guns and created theatre productions including Wat Speelt and Solo met Jan. His work sits comfortably in the nederpop and hollands traditions, rooted in direct, storytelling songwriting delivered with a light touch. That playful, anecdote filled stage presence has made him a natural fit for collaborative projects, including a New Year concert with Amsterdam Sinfonietta, where the string ensemble pairs with an artist from pop music each year for something a little adventurous.
