About
Brymir are a Helsinki outfit who have spent nearly two decades carving out a dense, layered corner of the heavy metal world, blending melodic death, symphonic textures, folk and power metal into something that feels genuinely epic without being cartoonish. Their debut Breathe Fire to the Sun came out on Spinefarm Records in 2011, and they have since built a catalogue of four studio albums, landing on Napalm Records for their 2022 release Voices in the Sky. That record marked a deliberate shift: vocalist Viktor Gullichsen has talked openly about pulling back on programmed orchestras and synth layers in favour of real instruments and voices, chasing a rawer emotional punch. His own touchstones include Dimmu Borgir, Finntroll, Wintersun and Moonsorrow, which tells you a lot about the kind of grandiose, northern darkness the band is going for.
