Chris Potter has spent decades as one of the most compelling saxophonists in contemporary jazz, known for a tone that is warm and rich and a technical command that seems genuinely bottomless. He roots his playing in the legacy of Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins and Lester Young, and from that foundation builds music that feels both rigorously crafted and deeply personal. His career as a sideman is staggering in scope: he has appeared on more than a hundred recordings and worked alongside Dave Holland, Dave Douglas, Herbie Hancock, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Joe Lovano and Steely Dan. As a bandleader he has released fifteen albums of his own. In trio format, Potter's playing tends to show its most direct, unfiltered side. The group features bassist Matt Brewer, who has worked extensively with Lee Konitz and Aaron Parks, and drummer Kendrick Scott, a core member of the Blue Note All Stars.
