Coilguns come out of La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland, and play a raw, high energy blend of mathcore, post hardcore and noise rock with a punk attitude baked in from the start. They grew up in the DIY hardcore scene and have kept that spirit alive: guitarist Jona Nido runs Humus Records, an independent Swiss label that has put out more than 170 releases, including the band's own records. Their fourth studio album Odd Love sent them on their most extensive run of touring yet, with over 85 shows worldwide. A fifth album followed quickly, previewed by the singles Peace Trader and Carbon Magic. Live, they have a reputation for chaotic, euphoric shows that land somewhere between a punk gig and a noise rock freakout, the kind of thing fans of Converge, IDLES or The Mars Volta tend to lose their minds over.
