About
Pupil Slicer are a London mathcore band who have built a fierce reputation on music that refuses to sit still. Their 2021 debut Mirrors drew on powerviolence, mathcore and grind, and put vocalist and guitarist Kate Davies at the centre of a project shaped as much by Botch and The Dillinger Escape Plan as by the chaotic energy of Code Orange. The follow up, Blossom, arrived in 2023 and pushed into black metal and groove metal territory, with Davies pulling lyrical inspiration from video games like Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker and Outer Wilds, and Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral. Producer Lewis Johns, known for his work with Svalbard and Rolo Tomassi, helmed that record. After lineup changes in late 2023, the band regrouped with new bassist Luke Booth and returned in early 2025 with singles Heather and Black Scrawl, previewing their third album Fleshwork.
