Few people have reshaped rock's possibilities quite like David Byrne. As the lead vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter of Talking Heads, he helped define the new wave era with eight studio albums, six of which went gold or platinum, and a run of inventive music videos that were fixtures on MTV. The band's 2002 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame cemented what most already knew. Byrne's solo work is just as restless. His 1989 album Rei Momo dove deep into Afro Cuban and Brazilian styles, while his 1981 collaboration with Brian Eno, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, was a genuinely ahead of its time experiment in sampling and found sounds. He has since worked with St. Vincent, Fatboy Slim, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, among others, and picked up an Academy Award, a Grammy, a Golden Globe, and a Special Tony along the way. Lately he has been releasing new music including tracks such as "The Avant Garde" and "Everybody Laughs", and a collaboration with Natalia Lafourcade and Mexican Institute of Sound.
