Death Angel have been a cornerstone of Bay Area thrash since 1982, and they are often counted among the "Big Eight" of the genre alongside Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus and Overkill. Guitarist Rob Cavestany and vocalist Mark Osegueda are the constants holding the band together across nine studio albums and several lineup shuffles. Their debut The Ultra Violence was recorded when every member was under 20, with drummer Andy Galeon just 14 at the time, and it remains a thrash landmark. A bus accident in 1991 broke the band up, but they reformed in 2001 and kept pushing forward. The 2019 album Humanicide earned the band a Grammy nomination for its title track, proof they were still swinging hard decades in. Recent activity points to more on the way, including an official video for "Wrath (Bring Fire)" and a full stream of Killing Season, with a tenth studio album reportedly in the works.
