About
Ronald Douglas and Rob van Bavel make a natural pairing: Douglas is a jazz vocalist who built his reputation with The Skymasters, the Metropole Orkest and The Timeless Orchestra, and became the first European to win the American Jazz Online World Competition. Van Bavel is a pianist whose discography as both sideman and bandleader runs to more than 200 recordings. Together they released the album From The Heart, a personal journey through the Great American Songbook in which the meaning of the lyrics takes centre stage. Dutch magazine Jazzism described it as a record where vulnerability and finesse meet. In quartet form, Douglas and Van Bavel are joined by double bassist Kasper Kalf, who has played with Benjamin Herman and Pete Philly & Perquisite, and drummer Marc Schenk, whose credits include Trijntje Oosterhuis, Candy Dulfer and Gare du Nord. The four bring a heartfelt touch to jazz standards.
