About
Dylan Gossett built his fanbase the old fashioned new way, posting covers and original songs on TikTok while still working day to day event operations at a Formula 1 racetrack in Austin. The song that changed everything was "Coal", a track he wrote in 2021 and recorded on a small microphone in his bedroom after it blew up on social media. The New York Times called it one of the best country songs of 2023, praising his ruggedly plaintive voice and emotionally detailed writing, and it landed on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as the British, Canadian, and Irish charts. Signed to Big Loud Texas and Mercury Records, Gossett has put out two EPs and his debut album Westward. His sound draws comparisons to Zach Bryan, and he cites influences ranging from Turnpike Troubadours and Flatland Cavalry to Mumford and Sons. Singles like "Beneath Oak Trees", "Bitter Winds", and the high energy narrative "Somewhere Between" showed his range, while "Stronger Than a Storm" appeared on the Twisters film soundtrack. He has also opened for Noah Kahan on tour in Australia.
