About
Emmure named themselves after immurement, a form of execution by walling someone in alive, which tells you pretty much everything about the vibe they're going for. The New Fairfield, Connecticut outfit play a bruising blend of deathcore and metalcore, and since forming in 2003 they've put out eight albums, the bulk of them through Victory Records. Vocalist Frankie Palmeri is the only original member still standing, and his unapologetic, confrontational personality has become as much a part of the Emmure brand as the crushing breakdowns. Their fourth album Speaker of the Dead cracked the Billboard 200, peaking at number 68, which is no small feat for a band this heavy. After nine years on Victory, they moved to SharpTone and released Look at Yourself in 2017, followed by Hindsight in 2020.
