Erwin Java (NL)

About

Also known as: Erwin Java

Erwin Java is a Dutch guitarist from Assen who has spent decades working across some of the most respected corners of Dutch rock. He is probably best known for his long stint with Cuby and the Blizzards, the band fronted by blues rock legend Harry Muskee, contributing to a string of albums from 1986 through to the late nineties and beyond. Before that he played with Herman Brood's Wild Romance, which gives you a sense of the calibre of company he was keeping early in his career. Beyond performing, Java has built a second life as a session guitarist and producer, working with artists like Daniel Sahuleka, Kaz Lux, and Bertus Borgers. In 1996 he co founded the Noorder Muziek Instituut in Groningen, a professional private music school where he also taught guitar. He holds a degree from the Prince Claus Conservatoire, so there is serious formal training behind all those years of stage and studio work.
