About
Frans Bauer is one of the Netherlands' most enduring levenslied artists, a genre rooted in emotionally direct, melodic Dutch pop. Born in Roosendaal, he first caught national attention through a cheeky television appearance on All you need is love, but radio stations were slow to embrace him, so his actual chart breakthrough didn't arrive until 1994 with Als sterren aan de hemel staan. From there things moved fast: a German schlager album, a number one duet with Marianne Weber called De Regenboog, and a run of sold out shows at Ahoy Rotterdam. His reality soap De Bauers pulled in big audiences in 2003 and its theme song Heb je even voor mij spent thirteen weeks at number one in the Dutch charts, going double platinum. He picked up the Gouden Televizier Ring the following year, the same year he was appointed Knight of the Order of Orange Nassau for his charity work, including his role as ambassador for Villa Pardoes. Since 2019 he has been a coach on The Voice Senior.
