About
Gordi is the project of Sophie Payten, an Australian songwriter who spent a stretch of 2019 working as a junior doctor at a Sydney hospital while her music kept turning up on screen. "Can We Work It Out" landed in The Vampire Diaries, "Heaven I Know" in The Walking Dead, and "Something Like This" in To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. She first got noticed by posting tracks to Triple J's Unearthed, then signed with Jagjaguwar and Liberation Music and put out her debut EP Clever Disguise in 2016. Her folktronica sound has taken her on the road with Bon Iver, Of Monsters and Men and The Tallest Man on Earth, and she sang backing vocals for Bon Iver on The Tonight Show. The debut album Reservoir arrived in 2017, followed by Our Two Skins in 2020, recorded in a cottage on her family's farm. More recently came the EP Inhuman in 2022 and the 2025 album Like Plasticine, which includes the single "Lunch At Dune" with SOAK.
