The Herman Brood Academie is a music education programme rooted in Zwolle that trains the next generation of rock and roll and singer songwriter talent. Rather than keeping students in the classroom, the academy sends out touring selections of its acts to play live venues across the country, giving them real stage experience in front of real crowds. Over the years it has produced a string of acts that have gone on to build genuine careers. The range of music coming out of the academy is broad. Students work across rock, rock and roll and singer songwriter styles, and the live showcases tend to mix up the bill with everything from dreamy indie pop to heavy guitar driven sounds. The academy also maintains studio facilities, which is where a number of its bands have taken shape.
