Imminence bring something genuinely unusual to the Swedish metalcore scene: their frontman Eddie Berg plays violin, earning the band the tag 'violincore' alongside the more expected metalcore and post hardcore labels. Formed in Trelleborg by Berg and guitarist Harald Barrett in 2009, the group found their footing with early EPs on Victory Records before signing to Arising Empire in 2015, when the single 'The Sickness' marked a real turning point for them. Their 2019 album Turn the Light On, which the band themselves say defines their sound, pulled them back to heavier territory after a more alt rock leaning record in 2017. Heaven in Hiding followed in 2021, with the band describing it as a deeper descent into darkness, drawing comparisons to Architects. Their fifth studio album The Black arrived in 2024, self released by the band, and an extended edition called The Return of the Black came out in early 2025, featuring re recordings and guest artists. The most recent official video, God Fearing Man, dropped in March 2025.
