Brighton metalcore outfit Architects have spent two decades carving out a reputation for technical ferocity balanced with genuine emotional weight. Heavily shaped by bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan early on, they built their sound around rhythmic complexity and controlled chaos, though they have never been afraid to push in more melodic directions. Their 2014 record Lost Forever // Lost Together was the turning point that won them a much wider audience, and they have kept that momentum going ever since. The death of guitarist and chief songwriter Tom Searle in 2016 after a battle with skin cancer was a seismic moment for the band. Rather than fold, they channelled the grief into Holy Hell, releasing 'Doomsday', the last track Tom was working on, as a single ahead of the album. Their ninth record For Those That Wish to Exist went all the way to number one on the UK Albums Chart, a first for the band, followed by The Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit in 2022. Sam Carter's vocals remain one of the most distinctive in the genre, and the band shows no sign of slowing down.
