Jack & Jack are a pop rap duo from Omaha, Nebraska, made up of two actual guys named Jack: Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky. They built their initial fanbase on Vine, where their comedy clips racked up over 5 million followers and landed them in the top 20 most followed accounts on the platform. The music side followed naturally, and staying independent paid off early: their EP Calibraska hit number one on the US iTunes album charts within hours of its release in 2015, and they had already sold a million singles on iTunes by February of that year. Their sound draws from reggae, R&B, pop and hip hop, and their collaborators have ranged from Shawn Mendes and Steve Aoki to producers Max Martin and Savan Kotecha. After signing with Island Records they released their debut album A Good Friend Is Nice in 2019. A hiatus followed in 2020, with both members pursuing solo work, before the duo came back together in 2022 with new releases.
