About
Koosje's voice carries a theatrical weight that makes sense once you know her background: she grew up surrounded by opera, musicals and stage productions, and has been performing since the age of eleven. That wide ranging foundation shows in her music, which refuses to settle in one corner. Neo soul, folk, R&B and jazz all feed into her compositions, moving between dreamy ballads and rhythmic, groove driven tracks. She has shared stages and studio sessions with Gregory Porter, Teddy Swims, Robin Thicke, Shirma Rouse, Ernst Daniël Smid and the Metropole Orkest, and has performed at major Dutch venues including Paard, De Doelen, Merleyn, TivoliVredenburg and Paradiso. Her regular collaborator João Erbetta, a Brazilian guitarist and composer based in São Paulo, is a frequent partner in her live work.
