Micheline van Hautem is a Belgian singer from Ghent with a deep connection to the French chanson tradition. Her 2001 album Songs of Jacques Brel sold more than 20,000 copies and launched a career that has taken her to stages in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, New Zealand, Australia and the United States. At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival she performed across multiple editions, winning the prestigious Herald Angel Award and building a loyal following among both audiences and critics there. She is widely regarded as one of Europe's finest chansonnières. In her show Guide Micheline: Ma Douce France, she teams up with guitarist Erwin van Ligten to explore the world of French chanson and the landscapes of the south of France, drawing on songs by Charles Aznavour, Edith Piaf, Yves Montand and Charles Trenet.
