Modestep started as a London duo built around brothers Josh and Tony Friend, blending dubstep and electronic rock in a way that landed them on the BBC Radio 1 A Playlist pretty much straight out of the gate. Their debut single 'Feel Good' charted in the UK in early 2011, and 'Sunlight' racked up a million YouTube views in just four days, debuting at number 16 on the UK charts. Their first album Evolution Theory arrived in 2013 with five singles, followed by London Road in 2015, a record stacked with collaborations featuring FuntCase, Big Narstie, Flowdan and more, released through their own label Max Records. Things shifted a fair bit over the years. Tony left in 2017, drummer Pat Lundy followed in 2022, and Modestep became solely Josh Friend's project. In that time the act moved through labels including Monstercat and Disciple Records, releasing a steady stream of EPs and singles, often alongside collaborators like Virtual Riot. The 2022 EP Diamonds, out on Disciple, kept things moving with a fresh set of features and showed Josh had no plans to slow down.
