About
MUNA, the Los Angeles trio of Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson, makes indie pop with an unapologetically queer heart. After two albums with RCA Records, they were dropped during the pandemic for "not making enough money", which turned out to be a blessing. Signing with Phoebe Bridgers' Saddest Factory Records, they released "Silk Chiffon" featuring Bridgers herself, a bright, joyful celebration of queer love that landed on numerous year end best of lists for 2021. Their self titled third album from 2022 became their highest rated release and their first to chart on the Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart. They covered Britney Spears for a Hulu film, opened for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour, and closed WorldPride Sydney in front of 15,000 people. In 2024 they released a live album recorded at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, while Gavin stepped out with a solo record on the same label.
