Paul van Dyk built his name as one of trance music's defining figures, rising out of Berlin's club scene in the early 1990s with a residency at the legendary Tresor and a career making remix of Humate's "Love Stimulation" in 1993. His 2003 album Reflections earned him the first ever Grammy nomination in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category, and DJ Magazine voted him the world's number one DJ two years running, in 2005 and 2006. He also picked up a Mexican Oscar for composing the soundtrack to the film Zurdo. His sound sits comfortably in progressive trance territory but stretches into house, techno and pop influenced electronic music. Standout tracks include the euphoric "For an Angel", "Tell Me Why (The Riddle)" with Saint Etienne, and "Nothing But You", which even landed on the FIFA 2004 soundtrack. His radio show VONYC Sessions has been running for years, and his label Vandit Records keeps him at the centre of the trance world. Recent work includes the collaboration "Guiding Light" with Sue McLaren.
