Puscifer is the brainchild of Maynard James Keenan, the voice behind Tool and A Perfect Circle, though it operates on a completely different wavelength from either of those bands. Keenan describes it as a playground for the various voices in his head, with no clear goals, where his Id, Ego, and Anima swap cookie recipes. What started as a solo outlet eventually grew into a proper group, with Mat Mitchell and Carina Round becoming permanent members alongside Keenan. The project spans post industrial textures, trip hop, ambient and experimental rock, and it has never been shy about blurring the line between music and absurdist art. Their debut album "V" Is for Vagina hit number one on the Billboard Independent Albums chart, and the song "Momma Sed" landed on the soundtrack of the film End of Watch. Puscifer is also famously as much a clothing line as a band, with limited edition merchandise, locally roasted coffee, and a physical store in Jerome, Arizona that opened above a tattoo parlor.
