About

Also known as: Ron Wood, Ronald David Wood, Ronnie Wood and his band

Ronnie Wood has spent more time as a Rolling Stone than he did in any of the acts that made him famous first, which is saying something. Before joining the Stones in 1975, he had already cut his teeth with the Birds, played bass and guitar in the Jeff Beck Group alongside Rod Stewart, and helped turn Faces into one of the best live rock bands of the early seventies. His fingerprints are all over that era: he co wrote "Stay With Me" and "Ooh La La" with Faces, and helped shape early Rod Stewart classics like "Gasoline Alley" and "Every Picture Tells a Story". His solo work is easy to overlook but worth digging into. His debut I've Got My Own Album to Do from 1974 featured George Harrison and Keith Richards, and Gimme Some Neck hit number 45 in the US in 1979. He has kept releasing records over the decades, with I Feel Like Playing arriving in 2010. As a Stone, Wood was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, then again in 2012 as a member of Faces.
