About
Sacred Reich have been one of thrash metal's sharpest political voices since coming out of Phoenix, Arizona in the mid 1980s. Their debut album Ignorance landed in 1987 with Kerrang! calling it the best debut thrash LP of the year, and they were quickly grouped alongside Testament and Death Angel as driving forces behind the second wave of thrash. The 1988 EP Surf Nicaragua pushed them into the global market, and 1990's The American Way cracked the Billboard 200, cementing their reputation for mixing heavier grooves with pointed social commentary. After breaking up around 2000, they came back to life in 2006 and gradually rebuilt momentum as a live act. The real payoff came with Awakening in 2019, their first studio album in over two decades, which landed on Metal Blade Records to strong critical reception. Drummer Dave McClain, who had spent years with Machine Head in between, returned to the fold for the record. Their YouTube channel has since featured official videos for tracks like Manifest Reality and Something to Believe, showing the band still firing on all cylinders.
