About
Frankfurt's Tankard has spent over four decades making thrash metal almost entirely about beer, which sets them apart from their peers in a pretty obvious way. Alongside Kreator, Destruction and Sodom, they're counted among the Big Four of Teutonic thrash, though Tankard are the ones who traded the politics and gore for a raised pint glass. Their debut Zombie Attack landed in 1986 on Noise Records, kicking off a run of albums that stayed remarkably consistent in style and spirit. Produced by Harris Johns through most of their Noise years, records like Chemical Invasion and The Morning After became underground staples. They've kept at it through lineup changes and the odd health scare, releasing their 18th studio album Pavlov's Dawgs in 2022, and the band is now working on new material planned for 2026.
