Best known as the voice behind K's Choice, the Belgian band he formed with his brother Gert in the mid 1990s, Sam Bettens built a devoted following across Belgium, the Netherlands, and France, and toured the US alongside acts like Alanis Morissette and the Indigo Girls. K's Choice broke through with the hit "Not an Addict", a song that still resonates well beyond its era. Bettens has also contributed vocals to film soundtracks including Underworld and Wild Things, and wrote "Leef", the title track for the Belgian film of the same name. His solo output spans the albums Scream and Shine, the latter distributed free with Flemish newspaper De Morgen in 2007, shifting 180,000 copies in a single day. More recently he co founded the electronic group Rex Rebel with two K's Choice bandmates, releasing the debut album Run in 2020. In 2019, Bettens came out publicly as a transgender man, noting openly that hormone therapy would change his voice and that he was working with a voice coach to adapt his singing.
