Stef Kamil Carlens is a Belgian singer songwriter, musician, composer, and producer best known as the driving force behind Zita Swoon, a band that grew from earlier incarnations called A Beatband and Moondog Jr. into the broader, more fluid collective Zita Swoon Group. Before that, he spent time as bassist and singer with dEUS, leaving in 1997 to focus on his own vision. His work spans dozens of records and hundreds of concerts on stages across Belgium and beyond, with side commissions for theatre and film woven in throughout. What makes Carlens genuinely interesting is how many modes he operates in at once: visual art, solo performance as a one man band playing multiple instruments, and full band shows. He has also explored the music of Bob Dylan extensively, touring with the project The Gates of Eden and releasing the double album Play Bob Dylan in February 2023. His most recent solo single Walk On Red, Stop On Green came out in January 2024, followed by the album Be Who You Wanna Be in April 2024.
