About
Shadow of Intent started out as a two man Halo themed studio project in Connecticut, with vocalist Ben Duerr and guitarist Chris Wiseman drawing directly from the game's storyline and novels for their lyrics. What began as a niche concept quickly grew into a full band with a sound that blends deathcore with symphonic, melodic, and blackened death metal elements, drawing comparisons to Fleshgod Apocalypse and Dimmu Borgir. Francesco Ferrini of Fleshgod Apocalypse even contributed orchestral work to their 2019 album Melancholy, a concept album built around a demonic goddess orchestrating mass suicides. All their releases have been put out independently, which makes the reach they have achieved pretty remarkable. Their fourth album Elegy landed to strong critical reception, and the deluxe edition followed with a Lamb of God cover for good measure. They have since released new music including the singles Flying the Black Flag and The Migrant, the latter marking a return to Halo themed writing. Their fifth studio album Imperium Delirium arrived in 2025.
