South London postpunk outfit Shame made a serious splash with their 2018 debut Songs of Praise, released through Dead Oceans, which peaked at number 32 in the UK charts and earned widespread critical praise. The five piece, featuring vocalist Charlie Steen alongside guitarists Sean Coyle Smith and Eddie Green, bassist Josh Finerty, and drummer Charlie Forbes, build their sound on sharp, angular postpunk energy with a raw live feel. Their follow up, Drunk Tank Pink, arrived in January 2021 after a year of anticipation, and critics took to it just as warmly. In 2023 the band released their third studio album Food for Worms, which featured a guest appearance from Phoebe Bridgers and landed well with reviewers, cementing Shame as one of the more consistent and compelling acts to emerge from the postpunk revival.
