About
South East London singer songwriter Skye Newman caught attention fast when her debut single "Hairdresser" cracked the UK Singles Chart in early 2025, peaking at number 15. She followed that up with "Family Matters", which pushed even further and landed in the top five, making it her first UK top 10 hit. Her debut EP SE9 Part 1 arrived in October 2025, named after the postcode she grew up in. Newman's sound draws from some serious touchstones: Amy Winehouse, Adele, Bob Marley, and Eminem all get name checked as inspirations, which gives you a sense of her range. Jazz and blues are in there too, partly through the influence of her aunt Moona, herself a singer in those genres. She also supported Lewis Capaldi on his UK and Ireland tour, a solid early co sign for an artist just getting started.
