About
Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltokoski was just 22 when he became the first person ever to be named principal guest conductor of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, an orchestra that had never given anyone that title in its entire history. Born in Vaasa, he studied under some of the heaviest names in the conducting world, including Sakari Oramo, Hannu Lintu and Esa Pekka Salonen, though he left the Sibelius Academy without a degree. The appointments piled up fast. He took on the music director role at the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, landed a principal guest conductor position with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, and was named music director of both the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. He signed with Deutsche Grammophon in 2023, releasing a debut album of Mozart symphonies with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in 2024. On top of conducting, he also composes his own piano works and has written pieces for string quartet and chamber ensemble.
