Ten56. hit the ground running with a clear mission: make something brutally heavy. Vocalist Aaron Matts founded the Paris band in 2020 after wanting a project far darker and heavier than his work with Betraying The Martyrs, which he eventually left in 2021 to focus on ten56. full time. The name itself comes from the US police code 10 56, a reference to suicide or suicide attempts, setting the tone for the kind of unflinching, grim territory the band operates in. Their sound pulls from deathcore, metalcore and nu metal, and they wasted no time building a catalogue, dropping their debut track 'Diazepam' in April 2021 and following it with the EP Downer Part 1 later that year. They expanded the project with Downer Part 2 in January 2023, a collaboration with deathcore act Cabal on 'Still Cursed', and a full studio album called Downer, keeping the momentum going across a busy few years.
