Marea Stamper, who performs as The Blessed Madonna (formerly The Black Madonna), has built a reputation as one of the sharpest house and techno selectors working today. Mixmag called her DJ of the year in 2016, and she has since expanded well beyond the booth, producing records, running her own label We Still Believe, and hosting regular slots on BBC Radio 6 Music. Her remix of Dua Lipa's 'Levitating', featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott, gave her a mainstream moment without softening her sound, and she also mixed Lipa's full remix album Club Future Nostalgia. In 2022 she released 'Serotonin Moonbeams', a track built around an interpolation of Suzanne Vega's 'Tom's Diner', with vocals from Uffie. A string of singles followed, including 'Shades of Love', 'Mercy' featuring Jacob Lusk, and 'Happier' featuring Clementine Douglas. All of that was building toward her debut studio album Godspeed, released in October 2024, a project a long time coming for someone who has been shaping dance floors since the late 1990s.
