About

Few Ukrainian rock bands have packed as much into a decade as The Hardkiss. Formed in Kyiv in 2011 by singer Julia Sanina and guitarist Valeriy Bebko, the band built a reputation fast, opening for acts like Solange Knowles and synth pop duo Hurts in their debut year, then signing to Sony BMG the following spring. Their debut album Stones and Honey, which included the Ukrainian language track 'Прірва' written in response to the Euromaidan tragedy, took home Best Album at the YUNA awards in 2015. They went on to earn multiple YUNA wins across the years, covering categories from Best Rock Band to Best Song in Ukrainian. Their sound sits in alternative and pop rock territory, and they have never been shy about shifting gears. The EP Cold Altair was described by Sanina herself as heavier and more alternative than their earlier work. After the full scale Russian invasion in 2022, the band released 'Як ти?' with proceeds going to humanitarian aid, then went on charity tours supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Their album Grey Hound, released in 2026, is a concept album built around the theme of time, featuring a collaboration with English rock band The Hara.
