About
Drawing comparisons to Wilson Pickett and Otis Redding is high praise, but The Teskey Brothers genuinely earn it. The Melbourne soul and blues rock outfit built their sound around the raw, gospel drenched vocals of Josh Teskey and the fluid lead guitar of his brother Sam, with a band feel rooted firmly in vintage rhythm and blues and jazz. Their 2017 debut Half Mile Harvest, recorded in their own home studio, quietly climbed to number one on the Australian independent album charts, and their follow up Run Home Slow landed at number two on the main ARIA Charts in 2019, winning them Best Group and Best Blues and Roots Album at that year's ARIA Awards. Since bassist Brendon Love and drummer Liam Gough departed at the end of 2022, the band has continued as a duo, with Sam and Josh carrying the name forward. Their third studio album The Winding Way arrived in June 2023, preceded by the singles "This Will Be Our Year" and "Oceans of Emotions". They have also shown a flair for well chosen covers, including a tribute version of INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart" in honour of the late Michael Gudinski.
