About
The Meltdown describe their own sound as Southern Soul from the great southern land, and that label fits. The Melbourne group deals in blues, soul and rhythm and blues that feels rooted in an older tradition, and a big part of why it works is vocalist Simon Burke, whose voice sits right in the sweet spot between rough and warm. Their self titled debut came out in 2017, followed by It's A Long Road in 2022. They also put out a live album, Live At The Nightcat, in 2023, which gives a good sense of how the band translates on stage.
